Finding Help and Grace: Approaching God's Throne of Mercy

As human beings, we all have needs and weaknesses. We are not God, and therefore, we require help in various aspects of our lives. Whether it's dealing with everyday challenges, facing the reality of death, or navigating the unknowns of eternity, we all need assistance. We may seek help with our families, spouses, children, loneliness, jobs, health, or finances. The list goes on.

However, there is a deeper truth that lurks within us. We are also aware that we don't deserve the help we need. We carry the weight of our sins and shortcomings, which highlights our unworthiness. Consequently, we may feel trapped by this paradox: we need help, but we don't deserve it.

In the face of this seemingly hopeless situation, God offers a solution. He sent Jesus Christ as a High Priest to shatter our despair with hope, humble our pride, and rescue us from the depths of our sin. Through Jesus, the throne of God becomes a throne of grace, where we can find the help we so desperately need.

At this throne of grace, we don't receive help based on our merit or deserving. Instead, we receive gracious help. This is why Jesus shed his own blood—to offer us mercy and grace in our time of need. We are not trapped by our unworthiness; we have access to God's help through our High Priest, Jesus the Son of God.

The Bible reassures us of this truth in Hebrews 4:16: "Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." This verse encourages us to approach God boldly, knowing that His throne is a place of mercy and grace. It reminds us that despite our unworthiness, we can find the help we need when we draw near to God through Jesus.

So, how can we practically apply this truth to our lives? Here are some steps we can take:

1. Acknowledge our need for help: The first step is to recognize that we can't do it all on our own. We must humbly admit our weaknesses and limitations, and acknowledge that we need assistance.

2. Embrace God's grace: Understanding that we don't deserve the help we need, we must embrace God's grace with gratitude and humility. We can't earn it, but we can receive it as a gift.

3. Approach the throne of grace: We are invited to come confidently before God's throne, knowing that He is ready to extend His mercy and grace to us. We can bring our needs, fears, and struggles to Him, trusting that He will provide the help we need.

4. Trust in Jesus: Our access to God's grace is made possible through Jesus Christ, our High Priest. We must put our faith and trust in Him, believing that He intercedes for us and bridges the gap between our unworthiness and God's grace.

5. Seek help in community: While we can approach God individually, we are also called to seek help and support from fellow believers. God often works through others to extend His grace and meet our needs. By sharing our burdens and seeking help, we can experience the power of God's grace in community.

As we engage in this ongoing process of seeking help and receiving God's grace, we will find that our lives are transformed. We will discover that we are not alone in our struggles, and that God's help is readily available to us. His grace will sustain us in our time of need and empower us to live victoriously.

In conclusion, we all have needs and weaknesses that require help. Despite our unworthiness, God offers us His grace and mercy through Jesus Christ, our High Priest. By acknowledging our need for help, embracing God's grace, approaching His throne with confidence, trusting in Jesus, and seeking help in community, we can receive the help we need and experience the transformative power of God's grace in our lives. So, let us draw near to the throne of grace with confidence, knowing that we will find mercy and grace to help in our time of need.
