The Active Work of God: Providing, Delivering, and Saving

From ancient times, no one has ever heard or seen a God like the one we serve. This God not only loves us, but actively works on our behalf. It may sound arrogant to say that God works for us, but that's because we often associate work with employment and assume that God needs a job. In reality, when the Bible speaks of God working for us, it means that we are in desperate need of His help.

Imagine being bankrupt and needing a bailout, or being weak and needing someone strong to lean on. That's the proper connotation of saying God works for us. It means that we are in a position of utter dependence on Him. And when God works for us, it is not to boost our ego, but to glorify Himself. He is the Giver, the Powerful One, and He deserves all the praise.

Let's dive into the Scriptures and see how God's work on our behalf is emphasized. We'll discover that we are not alone in our struggles, but that God is actively involved in our lives, providing support, deliverance, and salvation.

Isaiah 64:4 says, "No eye has seen a God besides you, who works for those who wait for him." This verse reminds us that God is unique and unlike any other. He works specifically for those who trust and wait for Him. This means that when we are patient and rely on Him, He will show up and work on our behalf.

Acts 17:25 tells us that God is not served by human hands because He lacks anything. He is not in need of our work or offerings. Instead, He is the one who gives us everything, including life and breath. God's work for us is not a transaction where we earn His favor, but a demonstration of His love and grace.

In Mark 10:45, Jesus Himself declares, "The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Jesus, the Son of God, came to serve and give His life as a payment for our sins. This ultimate act of service shows the extent of God's love for us and His willingness to work on our behalf.

2 Chronicles 16:9 says, "The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him." God's eyes are constantly searching for those who are devoted to Him. When our hearts are aligned with His, He provides us with strong support. We are not left to fend for ourselves, but have a loving and powerful God who fights for us.

Psalm 50:12, 15 emphasizes that God is not in need of our offerings or sacrifices. He is not hungry or lacking anything. Isaiah 46:4 assures us that God is with us from our youth until old age. He carries us, sustains us, and saves us. We can trust in His faithfulness and rely on His strength. When we are weak and weary, He is there to lift us up and carry us through.

In 1 Corinthians 15:10, the apostle Paul acknowledges that he worked harder than anyone, but it was not his own effort that brought about results.
