Finding Help in the Lord: Trusting His Tireless Work

Psalm 121:1-3 says, "I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber." These verses remind us that when we are in need of help, we should turn to the Lord. He is our Creator and He is always watching over us.

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you needed help? Maybe you were facing a difficult decision or going through a challenging time in your life. In those moments, it's natural to look for help and support. But where do you turn? Do you rely on your own strength and abilities? Or do you seek help from the Lord?

The psalmist lifts up his eyes to the hills and asks, "From where does my help come?" He recognizes that his help does not come from the hills themselves, but from the God who made them. The hills are a symbol of strength and stability, but even they are dependent on the Creator. The psalmist acknowledges that his help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

This truth is a reminder that God is the ultimate source of help and strength. He is the one who created the heavens and the earth, and He has the power to provide for our needs. When we turn to Him for help, we can trust that He will not let us be moved. He will keep us secure and steady.

But not only does God have the power to help us, He also has the willingness. The psalmist says that He will not slumber. This means that God is always watching over us, even when we are asleep. He never takes a break or gets tired. He is constantly working on our behalf.

This idea of God as a tireless worker is an amazing concept. We often think of ourselves as workers for God, but the Bible reminds us that God is the one who works for us. Isaiah 64:4 says, "From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides you, who works for those who wait for him." God loves to show His tireless power and wisdom and goodness by working for people who trust Him.

In fact, God is so eager to work for us that He goes around looking for more work to do for people who will trust Him. 2 Chronicles 16:9 says, "The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him." God is actively seeking opportunities to support and help those who trust in Him.

One of the ways God showed His tireless work and love for us was through the sending of His Son, Jesus. Jesus came not to be served, but to serve (Mark 10:45). He works for His followers and serves them. This is the essence of the gospel – it is not a "help wanted" sign, but a "help available" sign.

When we truly believe this truth, it has a profound impact on our lives. We can rejoice always, give thanks always, and have the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. We can be free from anxiety and love our neighbors as ourselves. All of this is possible when we trust in the tireless work of God.

So the next time you find yourself in need of help, remember to lift up your eyes to the hills and ask, "From where does my help come?" And let your answer be, "My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth." Trust in His tireless work and rest in His loving care. He is always there to help and support you.
