Ask God for the World: Understanding God's End Goal and Our Purpose as Christians

Ask God for the World: Understanding the End Goal of God

Have you ever wondered what God's ultimate purpose is for the world? What is his end goal? As Christians, it is essential to understand and align ourselves with God's mission. In this article, we will explore the biblical perspective on God's end goal and how it should shape our lives as believers in the year 2023 and beyond.

God's Glory Among All Nations

From the beginning of time, God's desire has been for his glory to be known and enjoyed among all the nations. In the book of Genesis, we read that God created man and woman in his image, and he blessed them to be fruitful and multiply, filling the earth with his glory (Genesis 1:26–28).

Throughout the Bible, we see glimpses of God's heart for all nations. In the book of Isaiah, God declares, "I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth" (Isaiah 49:6). This prophecy points to Jesus, who came as the ultimate light for the nations, bringing salvation to all who believe in him.

Furthermore, in the book of Revelation, we catch a glimpse of the future where a multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language will worship God. This is the ultimate fulfillment of God's end goal (Revelation 7:9–17).

So, if God's end goal is the spread of his glory among all the nations, it should also be our end goal as Christians. We are called to join God in his mission to make his glory known and enjoyed throughout the world.

Global Mission: The Purpose for Every Christian

Global mission is not just a program in the church for a select few. It is the purpose for which every Christian has breath. When we receive the Holy Spirit, we receive the same passion that God has for the world. The Spirit of God wants the world for Christ, and if we have the Spirit of God living in us, we will want the world for Christ.

Imagine being part of a grand symphony. Each instrument plays its unique role, contributing to the harmonious sound. In the same way, each of us has a unique part to play in God's mission to the world. We are called to use our gifts, talents, and resources to spread God's glory among the nations.

As Christians, we should ask ourselves, "How can I contribute to God's mission? How can I make a difference in the lives of those who have not yet heard the good news of Jesus Christ?" These questions should guide our actions and decisions in the year 2023 and beyond.

Praying for the World

One practical way to align ourselves with God's mission is through prayer. We can ask God to give us a heart for the world and to burden us with the desire to see his glory known among all nations.

The Bible encourages us to pray for the nations. In Psalm 67, we read, "May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations" (Psalm 67:1–2). The psalmist understood that God's blessings were not just for his people but for the sake of the nations.

When we pray for the world, we align ourselves with God's heart. We acknowledge that his love extends beyond our own borders and that he desires to save people from every tribe, tongue, and nation.

Engaging in Local and Global Outreach

In addition to prayer, we can actively engage in local and global outreach efforts. This could involve serving in our local communities, supporting missionaries, or participating in short-term missions trips.

Just as Jesus commanded his disciples to go and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19), we too are called to go and be witnesses for him. Our witness can take different forms, depending on our gifts and opportunities. Some may have the opportunity to go to far-off lands, while others may have the chance to share the gospel with their neighbors or coworkers.

It is important to remember that our role is to be faithful with the opportunities God has given us. We may not be able to reach every nation, but we can make a difference in the lives of those around us.

Living with Purpose

Aligning ourselves with God's mission gives our lives purpose and meaning. As we seek to make his glory known, we find fulfillment and satisfaction in knowing that we are part of something greater than ourselves.

Living with purpose also means making sacrifices. It may require us to step out of our comfort zones, to give up our own desires and preferences for the sake of others. But the rewards far outweigh the sacrifices. As we invest in God's mission, we store up treasures in heaven that will last for eternity.

So, as we enter the year 2023 and look to the future, let us ask God for the world. Let us align ourselves with his mission and seek to make his glory known among all nations. Whether through prayer, local outreach, or global missions, let us be faithful with the opportunities God has given us. And as we do so, we can be confident that we are fulfilling the purpose for which we were created.

In Conclusion

Understanding God's end goal for the world is essential for every Christian. As we align ourselves with his mission to spread his glory among all nations, we find purpose, fulfillment, and satisfaction in knowing that we are part of something greater than ourselves.

So, in the year 2023 and beyond, let us ask God for the world. Let us pray for the nations and actively engage in local and global outreach efforts. Let us be faithful with the opportunities God has given us, knowing that our labor in his mission is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58).

May we live with purpose, making a difference in the lives of those around us, and ultimately, bringing glory to God among all nations.
