The Divine Mission: Assisting Humanity on the Journey to Eternal Salvation
Beloved Toviel,
The Almighty has assigned you to the department of soul care. What a privilege! You have been given the incredible opportunity to serve those who will inherit eternal life. Isn't it amazing to think that we, as angels, get to assist humans on their journey towards salvation? I am delighted to join you in this mission.
Can you still recall the awe we felt when we first witnessed the creation of humans? The sheer brilliance of our Creator left us speechless. We watched as He painted the earth with light, bringing forth forests, mountains, flowers, and all kinds of magnificent creatures. The eagle soared, the gazelle pranced, the dolphin swam, and waves crashed. Even the sound of thunder made Michael reach for his sword in surprise!
But the masterpiece was not yet complete. The Almighty knelt down and breathed life into the dust, creating a being in His own image. It was a creature distinct from Himself, yet a reflection of His divine nature. This being, Eve, was the first human, fashioned specially to mirror the Creator. Can you imagine the wonder we experienced as we beheld this new creation?
However, paradise did not last. Our cursed brethren, the fallen angels, despised these image-bearers of God. They were envious and sought to tempt and corrupt them. We watched in horror as darkness engulfed the once colorful creation. Weeds began to grow in the celestial garden, and Adam and Eve were clothed in animal skins before being expelled from Eden. Our kin, armed with swords, guarded the entrance to prevent the fallen angels from reentering.
For centuries, we wondered about God's plan. We witnessed death, rebellion, murder, and all sorts of evil. Just when hope seemed lost, our Master, the King we had praised for countless ages, entered His own creation. He wrote Himself into the play, becoming man to save humanity. It was an incredible moment when I, Gabriel, was sent to announce the birth of Jesus to Mary. I can still remember my lines as if it were yesterday:
"Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end." (Luke 1:30–33)
Jesus, the Son of God, came to open the door to the locked kingdom. He fulfilled the ancient prophecy of crushing the serpent's head. Our Master took on the form of His own creation, becoming fully man while remaining fully God. It was an act of unimaginable love and sacrifice. I believe you are familiar with this story, dear Toviel, but it is worth recounting.
Now, you ask whether the humans you assist and strengthen on Earth will recognize you in glory. When that glorious day arrives and our Master returns, will your human, assuming he is one of the chosen, know you? I believe that when they see us, they will greet us with a sense of familiar wonder. It will be a reunion with a lifelong friend, someone they have always felt a connection to but had never met face to face. It will be similar to how they will greet the saints of other generations, whose stories and writings guided them on their journey to heaven.
On that day, when faith turns to sight, they will not only see us but join us in praising the Great King. It will be a joyous moment of unity and worship. As a servant to his king and a friend to his friend, you will humbly usher him into his eternal home.
But until that day, we still have work to do. We must continue to assist and strengthen the humans we are assigned to. We must help them resist the temptations of the enemy and guide them on the path to salvation. This is a great responsibility, but it is also a tremendous privilege.
As we carry out our mission, let us remember the hope and joy that await us. Let us be encouraged by the knowledge that our efforts are not in vain. Every soul we help bring home is a victory for the Kingdom of God. And when that final day arrives, when the host of heaven is complete, when the last voice sings praises to the Great King, our work will be done, and yet, it will be just the beginning.
Creation groans, heaven groans, and we groan, longing for that day. But until then, let us faithfully serve and strengthen those who are on the journey to their eternal home.
Your Fellow Servant of His Glory,
Gabriel
