Revealing Your Chosen Identity: Embracing the Joy of Being a Christian

Reveling in Being Chosen: 10 Reasons to Embrace Your Identity

Do you ever feel like a small fish in a big pond? In a world where unbelief and hostility towards Christianity are growing, it can be easy to feel insignificant and overwhelmed as a Christian. But here's the truth: you are not just any fish in the sea. You are chosen by God, part of a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a people for His own possession (1 Peter 2:9). In this article, we will explore ten reasons why you should revel in being chosen and embrace your identity as a Christian.

1. Your Faith: A Wonder Beyond Measure

It's easy to think that your faith is the result of your own choice. However, the Bible tells us that it is the other way around. Jesus said, "You did not choose me, but I chose you" (John 15:16). Your faith is not based on your own efforts, but on God's choosing of you. This should fill you with wonder and awe. Your faith is a gift from God, a miraculous work of His grace in your life.

2. God's Unconditional Love and Acceptance

As a chosen child of God, you are loved and accepted unconditionally. Ephesians 1:4-5 says, "In love, He predestined us for adoption to Himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will." God's love for you is not based on your performance or worthiness, but on His own sovereign choice. You are His beloved child, and nothing can separate you from His love (Romans 8:38-39).

3. A Part of God's Eternal Plan

Being chosen means that you are a part of God's eternal plan. Ephesians 1:11 says, "In Him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will." God has a specific purpose for your life, and He has chosen you to fulfill it. You are not a random accident; you are a vital part of God's grand design.

4. Empowered by the Holy Spirit

When you are chosen by God, you are not left to your own devices. He equips you with the power of the Holy Spirit to live out your faith. Acts 1:8 says, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses." The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, enabling you to live a life that honors and glorifies God.

5. A Community of Chosen Ones

As a chosen person, you are not alone. You are a part of a community of believers, a holy nation. 1 Peter 2:9 says, "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession." You have fellow Christians who can support, encourage, and inspire you on your journey of faith. Together, you can impact the world with the love and truth of Christ.

6. Protected and Guided by God

God's choosing of you also means that He will protect and guide you. Psalm 32:8 says, "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you." When you face challenges and uncertainties, you can trust that God is with you, leading you in the right path. He is your shepherd, guiding you beside still waters and restoring your soul (Psalm 23:1-3).

7. Transformed by God's Grace

Being chosen by God means that you are not defined by your past mistakes or shortcomings. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." God's grace has the power to transform your life and make you a new person. Embrace this transformation and live in the freedom and victory that Christ has won for you.

8. A Light in a Dark World

As a chosen person, you have a purpose to fulfill in this world. Matthew 5:14-16 says, "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." You have the opportunity to be a light in the darkness, pointing others to Christ.

9. Hope for the Future

As a chosen person, you have hope for the future. Romans 8:18 says, "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us." No matter what trials or hardships you may face in this life, you can hold onto the hope of the glory that awaits you in eternity. Your present sufferings are temporary, but the joy and fulfillment that God has prepared for you are everlasting.

10. Preparing for an Eternal Home

Finally, being chosen means that you are preparing for an eternal home with God. Jesus said, "In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?" (John 14:2). God has prepared a place for you in His heavenly kingdom, where you will dwell with Him forever. This knowledge should fill you with anticipation and joy as you live your life with an eternal perspective.

So, dear chosen one, embrace your identity as a Christian. You are not insignificant or overwhelmed. You are chosen by God, loved unconditionally, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. You are part of a community of believers, protected and guided by God, and transformed by His grace. You have a purpose to fulfill and hope for the future. And above all, you are preparing for an eternal home with God. Revel in being chosen and live your life in the fullness of your identity as a child of God.
