Learning to Live by Preparing for Death

Learning to Live by Preparing to Die

Life is unpredictable. We can never tell what the future holds. However, the thought of death scares us, and we tend to avoid thinking about it. The truth is, death is inevitable, and it is only a matter of time before we face it. But, what if we could change our perspective towards death and use it as a tool to learn how to live fully?

In this article, we will explore the idea of learning to live by preparing to die. We will look at what the Bible says about death and how we can use this knowledge to live a fulfilling life.

What the Bible Says About Death

The Bible has a lot to say about death. In Ecclesiastes 3:1-2, Solomon writes, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die.” This verse reminds us that death is a natural part of life, and we should accept it as such.

However, the Bible also teaches us that death is not the end. In John 11:25-26, Jesus tells Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” This verse reminds us that although our physical bodies may die, our souls will live on if we believe in Jesus.

Furthermore, the Bible teaches us that death is not something to be feared. In 2 Timothy 1:7, Paul writes, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” This verse reminds us that we should not be afraid of death because we have the power of God within us.

Preparing to Die

Although death is inevitable, we can prepare for it. In Psalm 90:12, Moses writes, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” This verse reminds us that we should live each day as if it were our last and make the most of the time we have.

Preparing to die also means preparing our hearts. In Romans 6:23, Paul writes, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” This verse reminds us that we should repent of our sins and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior so that we can have eternal life.

Living Fully

Learning to live by preparing to die means living fully in the present moment. It means making the most of each day and living with purpose. In Philippians 1:21, Paul writes, “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” This verse reminds us that our ultimate goal in life should be to live for Christ.

Living fully also means loving others. In John 13:34-35, Jesus tells his disciples, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” This verse reminds us that we should love others as Christ loved us.

Conclusion

Death is a natural part of life, and we should not be afraid of it. Instead, we should use it as a tool to learn how to live fully. By preparing for death, we can live each day with purpose and make the most of the time we have. We should live for Christ and love others as He loved us. Let us learn to live by preparing to die.
